The second joint training exercise on the measurement of ionizing radiation using specially equipped vehicles

Client: The German Federal Office for Radiation Protection

Objective: to exercise the radiation monitoring technique by mobile laboratories and portable measuring instruments in the conditions of radiation accident at NPP.

The Training participants were divided into teams that carried out radiation survey at four prepared road routes within the Chornobyl Exclusion Zone and at four walking routes in Prypiat town. The specialists also took soil samples at specially equipped sites and made comparative measurements of its activity. The joint work in the international teams enabled the specialists to check the efficiency of different measurement methods and the reliability of equipment, to improve professional skills, and to exchange experience on achieving the international standards of measurement quality.

The Training lasted from 30 August to 11 September 2018. 60 radiation protection and emergency response specialists from Germany and Ukraine took part in it.
