In the meeting specialists of the National Nuclear Safety Administration (NNSA, the USA) – Scott Roecker (Deputy Office Director, Office of Global Threat Reduction), Eric Howden (Project Manager, Office of Global Threat Reduction), Radiological Source and Security Lead of Sandia National Laboratory – John Pelletier, Contracting and Engineering Lead of Idaho National Laboratory – John Weathersby and Mike Browne – Fissile Materials Technical Lead of Los Alamos National Laboratory took part.
During the meeting a presentation of the Chornobyl Center was made: its history and сapabilities, CC work history with the USA DOE.
In turn, from the American part a presentation of the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA), as one of the parts of the USA Department of Energy and a presentation of the technical team GTRI (Global Threat Reduction Initiative) were made.
The issue of signing of Blanket Master Contract on nuclear nonproliferation was discussed, according to which the Chornobyl Center is a subcontractor.
A facility tour for CC guests was conducted around the CC International Radioecology Laboratory, its technical equipment and capabilities were showed.
On August 30 specialists of the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA), accompanied by the CC staff visited the Chornobyl exclusion zone, attended the ChNPP site.
