Assessment of genetic systems state in small mammals which live for a long period of time in the Exclusion Zone

Client: Texas Technological University (USA).
Period: 2011-2012

The works, which have been conducted on this subject in 2011, is a logical continuation of a long cooperation between IRL ChC and Texas Technological University (USA). General studies of small mammals (rodents and shrews) have been lasting for over than 15 years and are devoted to the genetic processes that occur in their populations in chronic radiation factors impact. The longer the animals live in the contaminated areas, the more generations pass from the time of the accident, the more accurate is the picture of the real long-term consequences of radiation effects. The main task of 2011 was the selection of tissue samples from animals for genetic research, captured at the same sites as in previous years.
