A reporting meeting of the Ukrainian Nuclear Society (UkrNS) was held in Kyiv
Svitlana Lynkevych, Head of Information and Analytical Department of the Chernobyl Center, participated in the annual reporting meeting of UkrNS that was held in Kyiv on March 1.
More than 70 representatives of nuclear branch of Ukraine gathered to discuss the past year results of the Society’s activity and plan its work for the next year, 2007. Among them there were the employees of nuclear plants, the NNEGC “Energoatom”, Ministry of Fuel and Energy, SNRC of Ukraine, SRI, scientific, engineering and other organizations.
Participants of the meeting avowedly and critically discussed urgent problems of the Ukrainian nuclear employees, development of the national nuclear science, condition of the branch’s regulatory system, its financing, problems of the uranium and mining complex, popularization of nuclear energy, provision of information to the community and many other issues.
The main attention of the participants was concentrated on the possible ways of UkrNS assistance in solving the problems above. Volodymyr Bronnikov, President of UkrNS, Olena Mykolaichuk, Chairman of SNRC, Nikita Konstantinov, 1st Vice-president of NNEGC “Energoatom”, Ivan Vyshnevskyi, Director of Nuclear Research Institute and many other participants of the meeting discussed the problems in their speeches. Those issues were reflected in the Conception of UkrNS activity for the period till 2010, in the action plan-2007 of the Society.
A number of organizational issues, such as membership in the Society, its executive board, sectional activity, financial issues were considered during the meeting. Valerii Glygalo, Director for Quality of the Chornobyl Center, Candidate of Technical Sciences, was by common consent chosen to UkrNS executive board to represent the Chornobyl Center. Svitlana Lynkevych, Head of Information and Analytical Department, became a member of the section “Women in Nuclear”. A diploma of the Society’s President was awarded to Yurii Ivanov, Senior Researcher of the International Radioecology Laboratory of the Chornobyl Center, Doctor of Biological Sciences, for his fruitful work as a member of the UkrNS executive board.
