Video conference New York – Kyiv: American people are interested in the Chornobyl accident aftermath and the problems faced by Slavutych people after the Chornobyl NPP closure
This will be the subject of the video conference in Kyiv today. It will be organized by the Chornobyl Center for Nuclear Safety, Radioactive Waste and Radioecology, Ukraine, and the U.S. NGO World Information Transfer (WIT).
About 200 American students, participants of the annual international conference ‘Global Partners for Global Solutions’ that is currently taking place in New York, statesmen and public officials are invited to the studio of the UN Headquarters in New York. The IAEA representatives from Vienna (Austria) also plan to participate in the video conference.
Numerous questions of American guests will be answered by Yevhen Garin, Coordinating Director of the Chornobyl Center; Vladimir Kholosha, Director of the Exclusion Zone Administration; Vladimir Udovichenko, Mayor of Slavutych; Markiyan Kulik, Director of the UN Office under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine; Konstantin Loganovskiy, Scientific Center of Radiation Medicine; representatives of the Chornobyl NPP and youth organizations of Slavutych.
An interest of the U.S. public in the Chornobyl issues gives hope that Ukraine shall not be left alone with serious Chornobyl-related problems, which are still top-priority and urgent.
