Chinese colleagues visited Chornobyl Center
On 18 September 2019, the Chornobyl Center hosted a delegation of the China Institute of Radiation Protection (CIRP) directorate headed by the CIRP’s President Liu Qun.
During the meeting the parties presented the general information about their organizations, and shared their experience in scientific and practical activities. The guests visited the Chornobyl Center’s Laboratory and were briefed on its capacities. The specialists exchanged the ideas of cooperation in the field of radioecological research, radioactive waste characterization and management, delivery of training courses at the premises of the Chornobyl Center and the Chornobyl Exclusion Zone, and joint participation in projects within the areas of activity.

The China Institute of Radiation Protection (СIRP, www.cirp.org.cn) was founded in 1962 in Taiyuan. The CIRP is a part of the China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC) and is a leading scientific institution addressing problems of nuclear safety, nuclear waste management, NPP Units decommissioning, public and environmental protection in cases of emergency at nuclear power facilities. Overall number of the CIRP’s staff is 1,100 persons. Six scientific centers, three research and production companies and a medical center are in operation at the premises of the Institute.
