Automatic Photography of Wild Animals within The Chornobyl Exclusion Zone

Objective: obtain photos of big animals inhabiting the Chornobyl Exclusion Zone (including rare species) in order to enlarge illustrative material; provide more information about the local fauna composition; nature conservation was also among the project objectives.

 

Outcomes:
A large number of unique photos of wild animals (moose, wild boar, roe deer, beaver, badger, wolf, deer, raccoon dog, hare, fox, polecat) were taken. Photos of a badger are the most interesting: first, because of its rareness (a badger is included in The Red Book and that was the first picture of him taken), and secondly, due to the photo camera we have discovered a new habitat of badgers in the Chornobyl Zone.
