IRL was attended by the members of the 6th International Meeting EURENSSA 2011
Today, 25 July 2011, the International Radioecology Laboratory of the Chornobyl Center was attended by the students of the environmental, biological and geographical faculties, researchers and young scientists from European countries and the CIS – participants of the 6th international meeting EURENSSA 2011 (EURopean ENvironmental Science Student Association) (European Environmental Students’ Association).
PhD, senior research fellow Julia Maklyuk met guests and conducted a tour. She spoke of the Chernobyl zone as a specific mode territory, of the radiation situation in it nowadays, responded to numerous questions relating to work carried out by scientists in the Zone.

What is EURENSSA?
EURENSSSA 2011 is a ten-day camp in the open air, which will bring together young scholars and students of various specialties from throughout Europe and the CIS and other countries.
The meeting is held annually in different countries, and this year the meeting EURENSSSA will be held in Ukraine from July, 22 to August, 1. The event is organized by the students for other students to share their knowledge and experience in the field of sustainable development. Ukrainian partner of EURENSSA2011 is a public organization “Adzhutor.”
The idea of EURENSSA is in creating a unified communication platform for future professional field, an exchange of knowledge and experience among like-minded, getting practical skills through actual experience. EURENSSA is an opportunity to compare the experiences of sustainable development in different countries. Another equally important aspect of EURENSSA is to meet and establish contacts with representatives of more than 20 countries, and certainly to have a good and informative time.
The topic of EURENSSA 2011 is “Sustainable development in our daily lives”.
The program is divided into 3 parts: Environment, Business and Creativity. Each part includes topics such as green tourism and successful examples of organic farming, the results of human activities (conducting a tour devoted to Chernobyl), “green office” and corporate social responsibility, creative Master classes and workshop on environmental design, conservation reserve areas, environmental business game, the best examples of environmental practices from different countries and a rich cultural program. Also, during the camp life students will be able to participate in the development and implementation of the environmental projects.
