Chornobyl Center is participating in the World Association of Nuclear Operators (WANO) Technical Support Mission
From 13 through 16 June 2005, the Chornobyl NPP hosts the Technical Support Mission of the World Association of Nuclear Operators (WANO) – “Features of decommissioning nuclear facilities with graphite-uranium reactors”.
Invitations to participate in the mission were sent to leaders of the NNEGC “Energoatom”, Ministry of Fuel and Energy of Ukraine , State Nuclear Regulatory Committee, Administration of the Chornobyl Exclusion Zone and Zone of Absolute (Mandatory) Resettlement under the Ukrainian Ministry of Emergencies and Affairs of Population Protection from the Chornobyl Catastrophe Consequences, Rosenergoatom Concern, Siberian Chemical Facility, as well as to the national scientific and technical institutions, experts of Beloyarsk and Ignalina NPPs.
During the meeting that will take place on 16 June, 2005, in the Chornobyl Center in Slavutych, the Center’s specialists will share their experience in providing scientific and technical support to decommissioning the ChNPP power units.
The mission agenda includes the following topics for discussion:
- ChNPP power units decommissioning progress;
- issues of preparation and decommissioning of NPP units with channel-type reactors;
- experience in Beloyarsk NPP equipment dismantling;
- comprehensive engineering and radiation survey, etc.
In the course of the mission proceedings, its participants will visit the facilities under construction on the ChNPP industrial site, Shelter Object observation pavilion, and will be informed on the progress in dismantling the equipment of Level 1 Nitrogen Oxygen Plant (NOP-1).
